Though for 12vdc a #14 wire will carry 15amps it will it do it with a 
greater voltage
drop than the larger wires. For some things (like an inverter) this matters, 
for some others
(like a TV or computer) it would not matter at all. My '89 Excella has the 
water pump and
the vent-a-hood on the same DC circuit, when both run at the same time the 
draw approaches
15amps and the voltage drop on that line is large enough that both slow 
down. Larger wire
is always better in 12vdc systems.
