I've had both Dish Network and Direct Tv at my home,
and in each case my setup used at least two LNB's, so
I was seeing two satellites.  The Direct TV dish was
oval while my present Dish Network is round, but
apparently the offset of the LNB's aim at the two
satellites.

While in the process of changing from Dish to Direct,
I was checking out the opinions of others on the
internet  and a few stated that you could use the
dishes interchangeably.  I thought of trying it, but
since I had both units I didn't, so my present one is
the round, twin LNB setup.  I used an inexpensive
meter to help locate the satellites and it worked
great - I'm receiving between 110 and 124 signal
strength out of a possible 125 depending what
transponder is currently in use.  The tech rep I spoke
to said that anything over 65 was acceptable.  That
meter cost me about $10. on EBay, and was bought from
a Tom Cleary of Alpharetta, Georgia, who is apparently
a dealer.  It doesn't have batteries, so one
connection goes to the LNB and the other to your
receiver.  Others contain batteries so it's not
necessary to connect to the receiver, but are MUCH
more expensive.

My dish is a 500 model, and I understand a 1000 is
available, but I'm not familiar with the additional
benefits of that unit.

What I was told be those on the internet makes sense
to me, so I would venture a guess that the Motosat
unit would work for both services.
