 Because of the not shutting off issue, I would certainly replace the 
thermostat and eco (they come in a kit).
 Not hard at all- http://www.bryantrv.com/docs2/temp/atwoodeco.pdf is a pdf 
file (36kb) of the Atwood replacement instructions.
 The kit is Atwood p/n 91447.
