 One thing to keep in mind is that an LP detector has a lifespan of 5 years 
(though you didn't ask about that ;)).
 I know Bob's sells new stuff, so I hope you bought new and not used (or if 
used, that it's out of a new wrecked rig).

 I would either buy or make a Manometer- 
http://rverscorner.com/articles/manometer.html describes how to make one and 
use it to check for LP leaks- or a service place should do it for not much 
money. This way you can be certain that there is or isn't a leak.
