[A/S] tag axel air bags

Hi, I love lurking on this group site. I have a question that
perhaps someone can help me with.

We have a 345 1988 Classic Motor home with a tag axel and air bags.
When we first got it the motor seemed to run too long to fill the
bags so we had the motor rebuilt. It seemed that that improved the
time it took to restore the air. But once again after only 2 years
it is taking up to 10 minutes to refill the bags once we arrive and
level the rig. I searched for info but all I could find is that the
bags can last up to 20 years if taken care of and are inspected often.
I am dense I guess but I want to know what to do to care for them and
what to look for when inspecting them. Any help would be appreciated.
We are 250 miles from an airstream dealer and have no RV repair shops
up here in the middle of no where in Minnesota.
