[A/S] Slideout Problems?

We are looking at an '02 slideout sofa, and a '99 non slide (obvioiusly) 
Limited. 
just when I had my partner conviced that the slide would not pose any great 
maintainance problem, a friend of ours from another Unit spoke to him for 20min 
on the HORRORS a friend is having with theirs, it breaks,,,,,they manually 
slid it in and it dumped lot's of water into the interior. This is not helping 
me! Honestly, have others on this list had major issues? I know Carl and Cindy 
have pulled theirs to/from Alaska, had no problems and love their 34ft slide 
sofa.
