Dan, I have an '01 Chevy Duramax crew cab 2wd with 74,000. Bought it
new. GM replaced a leaky injector pump at 20k. No other problems. As
someone else said, some had injector problems and the warranty has
been extended on '01's and '02's to 200k or 6 years. GM believes the
issues were mostly because of dirty fuel. They have recently come
out with a new fuel filter. The biggest problem with these is that
the injectors are very difficult to get to. I have a good
relationship with the diesel guy at the Chevy store. I wouldn't let
anybody but him work on it.

The rear differential is a 3.73 Eaton locker. Even with the locker
these trucks don't do well in the snow and ice with 2wd.

Some people on one of the truck forums say steering parts wear out
prematurely so you might want to have that checked.

We tow a 34 Airstream with it and love it. I would buy another
without hesitation.

Good luck,

Lee
