Re: [A/S] RE: Backing up a trailer

I want to add that there is a law of physics that applies to
backing up a trailer that has not been mentioned yet.

Your ability to back up is inversely related to the number
of people who are watching. So if you have a crowd of
people there looking at you ( and I'm sorry to say that men
are more effective at this ) you will be nearly unable to
do it. If you are by yourself and have time to pick away at
the project, you will do better.

I;m not even going to touch what happens when people "help"
you back up, unless they have been carefully trained and are
very obediant.

I think the problem is that there are too many things
backwards between what the tow does to the trailer, what you
see in the mirror, and the above mentioned panic level of
appearing dopey in front of a crowd.

With a short trailer oversteer is the enemy, go VERY slowly
and use the tiniest corrections possible. Charlie's advice
is right, but if I am flustered it's hard to remember, maybe
I need a sign.
