Re: [A/S] Urethane Foam Insulation

The challenge with an Airstream is the all metal construction. Metal
skin to metal rib to metal inner skin. Aluminum is a great conductor of
temperature differentials. I've been in a new 1973 in 20 degree temps
with frost lines on the inside of the coach. The biggest RV furnace they
make can't make up for the cold transfer. Even the newer coaches with
their transfer barrier are great. The barrier is only the thickness of
compressed double stick tape.
I believe you will find RV's that advertise all weather capabilities
have a wood frame structure. We used to own an SOB that we wintered in
Conrad, MT. We saw -40 on several occasions. Wood construction along
with storm windows made it possible for a 30K Btu furnace to keep us warm.
