Simply increasing the tire pressure increases the stresses on the wheel.

Wheel manufacturers would not advise against installing D tires when C 
tires have been used for a long time, unless they have supporting data.

Some people like to live on the edge, others promote, and practice 
maximum safety, within reason. Just because someone got away with 
something, doesn't make it correct, nor does it eliminate the fact that 
the wheels do split.

I had a customer sign a "release" before he left our facility in 
Corona, Cal, because he insisted the wheel manufacturers were wrong. He 
called us from Phoenix, to tell us he had 3 (three) wheels blow.

What he did was the same exact thing your are doing.
