My A/C in my 91 Limited takes 56 Amps to crank it up and only 15 to run.
The blower runs up and then the compressor kicks in.

Most new A/C's are at 20-25 Amps and up to start.

I use two Honda 2000i's paralleled together to provide crank amps and both 
run on the energy saving setting after that for ALL the other needs, Hot 
water, A/C, elect, Internet, TV, Lights, Hair Dryer, etc.
