I have used Mobil 1 for years for NO other reason than I then allow a
somewhat LONGER interval between changes than with conventional oil.

For my type of driving (including occasional towing), the manual recommends
a 7500 mile interval.  I go 5000 using synthetic.  With "natural" oil (dino
crud, the real thing, etc), I tried to keep the interval down to 3000 - 3500
miles.

IIRC, that is the "general motors" of diesel oil.

If you are faithful to the owner's manual with your intervals, you should
expect THE SAME life from your engine using EITHER type of oil.
