Don't sweat the diesel fuel.  If a truck can get there, there is diesel
available.

I have owned a diesel car since 1977 (and still do - now a 2003 VW Jetta
TDI) and have never had a problem finding fuel, even on long trips away from
home. (And passenger car diesel stations were a lot scarcer back then, than
they are now.)

If you are in an unfamiliar locale, the trick is to start looking for fuel
once your fuel gage drops to 1/4 of a tank, or before leaving a metropolitan
area.  With the range of a diesel, that will give you plenty of time (and
miles) to fing a fuel source. Sometimes you may have to stop at a non diesel
gas station and ask for the location of one that sells diesel.

Also, you can get brochures from Flying J and other truck stop chains,
listing their locations.
