Re nylon pulls
My A/S dealer has a ready supply of those tabs. We always break a few
getting the curtains off the track. As you say, they become brittle over a
period of time.

Re disintegrating curtains.
I'm not sure that most folks know that "dry cleaning" is not really dry
cleaning. It involves liquids and agitation and I think, personally, that
you run a much greater chance of having the curtains ruined by a
professional cleaner, than you do washing them in cold water and liquid
Tide, yourself.
