Long before the A/S recall, a member of our local WBCCI unit had the
bearings go out on his '04 30 ft. Classic several months ago, with wheel
seperation from the hub and some amount of damage to the wheel well of the
trailer. With a lot of complaining from the owner, supported by our local
(Buda, TX) Airstream dealer, Airstream agreed to pay all repair costs. As a
result of this this experience, several of us with newer units had the
bearings checked & repacked (at our cost). In the case of my '04 Classic,
the hub lubricant had become almost 'liquid' and would have caused serious
damage had I been on the road or if it not been caught in time.

Tom's sugestion above makes very good sense.
