Hello,
Its funny that Joe is going to switch from Optimas to Lifelines, I was
going to do just the opposite. I'm glad to hear he's happy with the
Optimas as I am with the 2 Lifelines in my 68. The only thing I don't
like is the weight of the Lifeline battery as it runs around 75 pounds
per battery and the size seems bigger than the Optima. I was planning on
adding to Optima gel cells instead of the Lifeline AGMs in the 59
because of the smaller area I have to use as battery storage as well as
the lighter weight. I also have found that the gels are cheaper. I might
be all wet here but from what I read the AGM and the gel cell are very
similar as far as storage capacity and the need to care for them (never
over charge, never run then all the way down). An again I'm no expert
here but from what I read neither vent gasses, both can be tipped over
and not cause a major problem and both will hold a charge to do what
little boon docking I do. For a really good article on batteries and

topic and made what I feel a good battery decision from it.
