Re: Two Questions
From Pam & Matt:
>We are about 7-1/2 hours north of you in Sedan, NM. We have the
beginnings of courtesy parking, hopefully full hookups by next summer.
Come on up, if you want to pooch around the high plains/TX & OK
panhandle areas.
Question #1: What is meant, exactly, by the term "courtesy parking?" I believe it
might be a synonym for the "driveway parking" that I know. In the circle of SKP's
I hang out with, and the way I define it, the term "driveway parking" means any
parking at a private residence, vacation cabin or land, or other private land not
zoned commercial. It usually is in a driveway, but it doesn't have to be. Most
driveway parkings I've used are either boondocking or 15aE (and a rare 30aE).
Sometimes have water hookups, most of the time have a remote spigot for fill, and
sometimes you have to fill in town. And nearly always you have to dump in town.
I've heard of FHU driveway parkings, but never had the opportunity to use them.
It's a residential equivalent to Elk and Moose Parking. I have to have a similar
mindset when using that type of parking.
Is this what you mean by "courtesy parking", or is the definition of the term
different from my "driveway parking?" I want to be able to "talk" Airstream if I
am to become an Airstreamer.
>That's an open invite to the list, actually. SOBs welcome too, because
if you're here, your heart is in the right place.
Question #2: What is meant by the term "SOB" here? In non-Airstream circles, it
means something dirty, like a male offspring of a canine mother. Do Airstreamers
have a different definition of the term "SOB?"
And by the way, there are two more "dirty words" around SKP circles that may also
be dirty in Airstream circles: W*** (w-o-r-k) and J** (j-o-b.) The former is
sometimes referred to as "The W" or "The W word." But workcamping is OK - many
SKPs do it, but yes, they do have j**s, and they are doing the W. I figure that
with all I'm purchasing this year, I may just have to get me a j**! Hopefully
not... Maybe I just need to use more Elk, Moose and Courtesy (Driveway) Parkings...
