Re: Am I Crazy now Re: [A/S] Eurovan vs. Sprinter vs. Rialta -3 different

Colin,

Again the EuroVan has 41 more horsepower than my Dodge W200 (201 at 6200
vs 170 at 4000) but less torque (185 at 2500 vs 285 at 2400). I don't
think that the cargo capacity is much of an issue, most non-truck
vehicles do not have much. She is only going to tow a 3000 lb trailer
vs my 5800 lb trailer. The EuroVan gross weight plus trailer
(5236+761+3000) divided by horsepower is 45 and divided by torque is 49,
my combination (5000+5800) is 64 for horsepower and 38 for torque.
Since you consider the EuroVan underpowered, what horsepower and torque
would you recommend for the EuroVan and what alternative non pickup
would you suggest?

I recall the issue with the Touareg, but I don't remember what size
Airstream they were towing and what the tow rating is for the vehicle,
do you? The V8 Touareg has a towing capacity of 7710, I think that this
engine is new and the ad may have been when they only offered the V6.

What is your source for the manufacturers overrating their towing
capacity, I cannot believe that they would open themselves to warranty
claims for overstressing the actual capacity. If you did not tow over
the rated limit and something broke they would have to repair under
warranty.
