28/30' & short bed truck

hello,
am thinking of selling my long bed dodge with the quad cab and buying 
a short bed dodge with the quad cab. also thinking of sizing up my 
airsream to a 28 or 30foot. my question is this, does anyone pull a 
long trailer with a short bed truck? i will stay with the cummins 
diesel but wondering how the truck will handle the longer trailer. 
the over all length between the two trucks would be that the short 
bed would be about 2 feet shorter.
