Herb,

I  think improvements in noise levels have been made in recent years. The
trim level of the truck makes a difference, I have an early (91) Dodge
/Cummins which is base level trim and is VERY noisy. If noise is your major
concern I would look for a newer GM/Isuzu they impress me as being very
quiet.

( I bought the above Dodge new and after a quarter million miles it still
runs just like it did brand new and still uses no oil!)
