Well, I went and dood it.  I took the advice of this forum and 
bought a diesel truck.  Now I have questions for the forum members 
here who already have diesel trucks.  Seeing as you talked me into 
buying it, please help me understand it.  Only two questions today, 
but more will come in future.  Todays questions:  

One: I know some of you have put exhaust brakes on their diesels 
(like Hunter).  This truck is a 2004 with 6.0L.  Does it need an 
exhaust brake, or did Ford do something with this new engine that 
makes an exhaust brake unnecessary?

Two: Has anyone from a cold clime put a remote start on a diesel?  
How does this work in cold weather with the requirement to cycle the 
glow plugs?
