[A/S] Repacking Bearings

Tom - I'd get your bearings checked soonest. A member of our local WBCCI
chapter has had a horrible incident with his brand new 30' Classic - a
bearing burned out while under tow, the axle broke off & the axle, tire rim
& tire all went under the trailer causing all the subsequent damage one
might expect. I understand Airstream has accepted all repair costs, as it
MAY be that the trailer was delivered from the factory with less than
adequate lubrication to the bearings! I bumped into a friend from this unit
at our dealer who was having his bearings packed in his new AS as a result
of our friend's misfortune. I decided at that point to have my bearings
packed also. The mechanic told me it was a good thing I'd had mine done as
the lube on mine showed 'wear'. No damage yet, but ... No matter that I've
only pulled trailer less than 1,000 miles.
