Re: [A/S] Invertor Installation
One major problem with doing stuff like this is you usually have to be your
own engineer to come up with a plan of how to do it safely and in a way
that other people in your family can live with without a lot of technical
stuff to remember.
You might get some ideas from some of the hits you will see from a
http://www.google.com/ search using keywords: [solar trailer wiring
inverter]. Many hits turn up, and some of them are written by people like
you and me, but who have more experience - spending some time reading
through some of them might be helpful. One of those hits recommends just
manually plugging the trailer into the inverter when you need it, or use an
automatic transfer switch to do the same thing when AC is not present.
Unplug the univolt, or course.
Don't forget that your refrigerator might automatically switch to AC when
it is present (mine does). Also a "hot rod" in the water heater might be
automatic (mine is). Either of these loads could kill the batteries pretty
quickly unless switched off. You could unplug them both, but then you give
up convenience. Lots to think about.
