The point of having a two or three way fridge is to be able to run it when 
you are boondocking.  (Not hooked up to any electric).

As far as running it while you are traveling, many do.  Many don't. There's a 
slight danger of having an open propane line and a flame. Especially in gas 
stations.

Personally, it's worrisome to me to have the open gas line in case of an 
accident..... since I don't need to keep it running, I don't.

I know many people who do leave it open and think I'm being silly but I'd 
rather err on the side of caution.
