We towed our Airstream for over ten years with the factory mirrors 
on our Chevy 3/4 ton van.  They were stainless steel, mounted on 
both doors, started with a tripod mounted on the door, then an "L" 
shaped piece that went up from the tripod, then either in or out.  
The mirror was about 8" tall by 6" wide and attached to the "L" 
piece.  For towing we swivelled the "L" piece out, putting the 
mirrors about 9" farther out from the door, and when we needed it 
narrower we swung the "L" piece back in 180 degrees.

We could see the van's rear wheels and the airstream wheels while 
towing, very handy when trying to get into "Smoke Hole" campground 
in West Virginia on the world's narrowest one lane dirt road.

So ask your dealer what GM sells now, and try it.

After 12 years our van rusted to death and we sold the airstream, 
which was still in good shape.  We hope you enjoy yours as much as 
we enjoyed ours.
