Check with a knowledgeable GM dealer to see if GMC offered a factory 
installed towing mirror option for this model. If so, check with your 
recycle junkyards to buy a pair from a wrecked vehicle. Have your mechanic 
install them.

The factory option towing mirrors on my 2003 Dodge 3500 are VERY good. I 
can't imagine a better setup - I flip the mirror up+out for towing, back 
down/in for other. Electrically adjustable, even heated. When down/in, they 
do not stick out any farther than conventional mirrors.

I think Ford offers something similar for their towing vehicles that pulls 
out(?). Surely GMC has something similar.

If something like this was available from the GMC factory that will fit 
your 2002, you should at least check it out before buying some add-on 
afterthought.
