[A/S] Braund Skyliner vs Winegard Senstar II RV3090A
Greetings from Tulsa,
Over the Labor day weekend at Lake Tinkiller I had a gear failure for raising
and lowering the original Braund Skyliner vhf / uhf Television antenna on our
77 Sovereign.
I previously replaced the gears because they stripped out the first time I
tried to raise the antenna. It had not been used in many years since they had a
cable hookup where the trailer was kept. I have never been all that pleased
with how the antenna raises --- very stiff when starting to raise the antenna.
There is also no solid response when pulling or pushing the handle to
raise/lower or rotate the antenna. I have also been unable to stop a long time
leak around the handle. I think the O ring needs to be replaced but I haven't
been willing to tackle the job of removing the antenna, etc.
I've wondered about replacing the Braund with one of the Wineguard wing
antennas. This may be my excuse for replacing vs. repairing the Braund. I
just wonder if any of you out there have experience with both and have replaced
the Braund Skyliner with the amplified Wineguard wing antenna, and how they
compare in your opinion with respect to effectiveness . I would also be
courious what anyone using the Wineguard RV3090A thinks about it. I'm
interested in the best signal to the receiver and wonder how the Braund and
Wineguard compare.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note, Mr. Burke, based on your experience what is your opinion? Hope
you've had a great summer.
Thanks again all
Charlie Gunkel
