Most transmission problems are due to the fluid either overheating or not
being changed as recommended, there are gauges that you can install to keep
an eye on the heat, you can also look into Amsoil synthetic Transmission
fluid (be sure to check that it meets your warranty specs they have a
webpage at http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/faq4.htm ) 
You might also look into a group for your truck I get most of my info from
 PowerStroke@yahoogroups.com
I have a Ford F250 Powerstroke Diesel.
