Re: [A/S] Re: 8.0 liter V-8
Jim,
My 34' is almost 2000 # heavier than your 31'. I've
got a friend that had a 2500 Suburban and a 34' A/S.
We traveled to Yellowstone together and he had me go
ahead of him up and down the mountains. The reason
was he went up at a maximum speed of 20 mph, and
smoked his brakes on the way down. He traded his A/S
for a new 31', and got the Denali quadrasteer.
The Yukon is rated for 8200# with the 3.73 axle ratio.
I understand that I could tow more with a higher
rear-end ratio, but I think that I would be close to
the max.
The other thing is that I really do like my diesel and
the added torque it provides. On the trip, above,
while my friend was climbing at 20 and smoking coming
down, I climbed at 45-50 and came down smoke free.
While I really envy the Yukons and Subabans luxurious
cab space and amenities, until they offer a diesel
I'll stick it out with my truck. The diesel Sierra
does come with quadrasteer, so I might look at one of
those.
