I have discussed this now with several friends and also
received comments back from this list.  It seems that
the concensus is that the bearings need more frequent
packing because they are not used frequently.  This
sounds like an opportunity for the grease manufacturers
to make a product that will retain its lubricating
qualities without being "exercised" (it would be nice
if people could do that).

I'm wondering if this means that if you are a
full-timer and pull your trailer say, once a week or
so, do you need to pack your bearings less frequently? 
Any comments from you full-timers?

Would it be possible to pull your trailer once a week
during the off-season to avoid having to re-pack them?
