Yes the dollar amounts quoted were for 2 people per unit, and after we
received our refund at the end of the caravan. The system works by the
leader making an educated guess as to the cost of the trip, and setting up a
"Kitty " to cover those cost. You are charged a "Kitty Fee" up front, and
the kitty is spent during the trip. The fee could cost more, or you get a
refund at the end. I have never talked to anyone that had to pay more at the
end. They always get a refund at the end. The cost of the caravans change
almost every year. This is caused by changes in the activities and
campgrounds available for the caravan. Last year for example, the "Alaska
Caravan" Kitty fee was $3800, but it included more days than ours and had
upgraded the campgrounds, because better ones were available last year. We
have gotten $100 to $300 back on each of the 3 caravans we have been on.
