[A/S] new solar dome

I recently purchased a solar dome for my 64 Safari (14 x 26).  I was 
wondering if anyone had installed one of these newer domes and how 
it was installed.  All I have is the orginal lifters but no dome to 
go by.  My biggest ? is do I have to drill holes through the dome or 
can I just rivet through the vapor barrier layer on the bottom and 
rivet the hardware to that layer only thus avoiding breaching the 
integrity of the outer layer.  Any help here, photos, etc would be
