[A/S] Re: painting an Argosy

 We re-paineted our 1976 Argosy in about 1982. The original ppaint 
did not hold up very well in the Texas sun. We stripped the motorhome 
ourselves and it was maid easier by the fact that most of the 
motorhome is alluminum so that you can use paint remover. We where 
told that the most important thing is to use zink oxide (better than 
epoxy paint) to prime the surface. If you dont use zink oxide, epoxy 
or some other good primer the paint will not stick to the alluminum 
and it will start to pit like the original argosy paint did. Our 
motorhome has been painted for 20 years and still loks great. You 
need to use good paint and clear coat. Which will probaly run you 
over $700.00 considering. If you have a compressor and paint it 
yourself youy can save alot of money. Who ever you get to paint it 
needs to put scaffolding down both sides of the motorhome so that the 
top gets a real good coat of paint as it takes the most heat.Ours was 
not sprayed properly on the top  and we need to re-paint the roof.
It is a lot of work but the results make it worth it.
