Family Motor Coaching Magazine had an article on quieting a generator a few
years ago.    They used some sort of laminate board that was made of lead
and insulation to line the inside of the generator compartment of a
motorhome.  They got it really quiet, but you're talking a lot of weight and
money.  You can quiet anything if you've got enough insulation and mufflers,
but its going to weigh more than 46 pounds.
