[A/S] South Padre Island

I have played the 2PM game at the state campground at the South end 
of the island. The campground looked nice but hard to get a site (at 
least in Feb. when I was there).

I finally just dry camped on the beach. Drive north of the 
commercial area and look for public gates to the beach. Drive thru 
the gate out onto the hard sand then drive up the beach until you 
find some open space. I was towing a 20' Avion behind a Ford 
Explorer and had no problem on the firm sand.

You will see lots of other rigs doing the same thing.

If for some reason you do not like waves, just turn off on the 
inland side of the road and find an open space on the quiet bay 
water. Very pleasant and highly recommended.
