We went the Shop Vac route as well and will never go back... Target 
Stores seem to have a special (small) model that we can't find any 
where else and we seem to have to go there for the bags...Cheap and 
very powerful...The hose and the vac seem to get separated (lost) in 
storage, but a few minutes of looking gathers up all the parts needed 
...
