RE: [A/S] Chevy Silverado
I just ordered A GMC Sierra (same truck on the inside) with that same
package plus 4 wheel drive. I too, did lots of research and soul searching
before deciding to go with the Diesel truck. I have never owned a diesel,
and really don't like the smell or the noise, but everyone that uses one for
a puller thinks they are the best thing sense canned beer. I really only use
mine for pulling my 34' Limited A/S, so decided to give it a try. I
discovered the fact Hunter mentioned about never recovering the $$$$
difference for diesel, but there must be something else there that attracts
lots of people to use them as tow vehicles. It needs to be pretty darn good
to out class my present GMC Sierra that has pulled my trailer through 46
states (including Alaska), and 11 Canadian Provinces in 3 years with zero
minutes of time lost because of truck problems. I also get 9.5 MPG pulling
and about 15.5 MPG when empty (These MPG's are not a guess, I have a spread
sheet showing every gallon of gas burned, and its MPG, in the truck sense it
was new.). I now have 60,300 miles on the truck and figure it is time for
the upgrade to 4 doors and 4 wheel drive plus my first diesel.
