One of the most important things that the Thedford guy had to say about 
toilets at the International, was that they are set up to control odors 
in two ways:
    1. A mechanical barrier, that is the little hinge gate that goes 
across the bottom of the bowl that moves to one side when you flush, and
    2. A water barrier, that is that the bowl and gate are designed with 
a seal to keep water in the bowl, thereby keeping the odors from 
migrating from the tank.
So, you have to make sure the seal is cleaned out.  The tool is a bent 
screw-driver that can gently scrape any detrius from the groove that the 
gate closes into. The most likely location for gunk to build up is right 
at 6 o'clock as you face the toilet. Once the seal is cleaned out, then 
the toilet bowl should hold water and seal off any odours.
Finaly, the only time you need a deoderant for the holding tank, is if 
your seals aren't working.
