Marvin, is the odor related to when you flush the
toilet?  Does the bowl hold water? 

By nature the holding tank will smell.  There are lots
of chemicals and additives to reduce the odor but it
sounds like you are getting the normal odors which
occur as waste sits in the tank for a period of time.

Some things to remember.  One the chemical you add
will be affected by heat and the frequency in which
you drain your tank.  You will notice that most
chemicals will state on the package that you may have
to double the dose or add additional chemical under
hot conditions.

Second thing to remember is the use of your vent fans
when flushing the toilet.  In many cases if your
trailer is closed up and you have the vent fan(s)
running, as soon as you open the flush valve on your
toilet, the air from inside that tank will be pulled
into your trailer.  You might want to check that out.

Try to empty your black water tank with the tank as
full as possible.  That will take a lot of the paper
and other products out of the tank.

Finally note that some additives may work against each
other.  Organic products can be killed by products
that have formaldehyde in them.  If you change from a
formaldehyde product to an organic product, you will
need to do a couple of clear water tank flushes prior
to using the organic product.  If you don't, the
organic product will do nothing for the first couple
tank loads.  The product supplied by Thetford with
your new trailer is the formaldehyde product. 
Probably one of the best smell maskers, not always the
best for the environment.
