iow, the Taureg getting wagged about by some TT it cannot stop or control could
very likely cause the death, injuries and property damage to a huge number of
people and vehicles on some highway with all the wrong circumstances coming
together at the wrong time.

Just because of the lack of good judgement of one trailer puller.
There is so much of this on this and other lists that I really am beginning to
agree with nannyism legislature which requires that a special license be issued
by DOT requiring a minimal tow vehicle for a certain trailer.  The minimal
vehicle would be likely a Tahoe or MAYBE an Expedition. Actually, I think that
both are borderline.
The basic rule should be long wheel base and a vehicle weight to Trailer ratio
of as close to 1:1 as possible.  Vehicle braking and torque/hp should be about
the same as a 7.3L diesel on at least an F250 Ford pickup.  F350 would be
better.

Needless to say, the larger the trailer, the larger and stronger the tow
vehicle.  ie, a 35' Ltd should likely have a 6 wheel Class8  heavy puller like a
Volvo 610 or 710.  This with 400k miles, fully restored is good for another 600K
miles and is capable of pulling the largest 5er available and loaf along doing
it.  and -- this same vehicle is commonly available for about 35K$ or less.
