this is a very good point, my shore power pole plug or male plug has been cooked
a couple dozen times over the years. I finally cut off the plug and bought a
few replacement plugs and just change them out as the rubber melts around the
prongs. they eventually stop working or do so intermittently.
Always check this point every time you disconnect from a pole and make a point
to make the time to replace it before you plug it in again. AC units are very
expensive.
As Don pointed out, almost anything in the circuit between the breaker on the
pole and the ac motor terminals needs to be as low resistance as possible.
