A trick I used to use at my cabin in Maine for mice was to prop up a broom 
against a tall plastic or metal waste can with some mice attractions in the 
bottom of it... the mice run up the broom handle... fall into the can and can't 
get out... you come along some time later and empty out the can...  worked for 
me...
