From my readings on the various forums, I don't think my two 
Fantastic Vents are unique.  With both open and running, they stayed 
that way when the temperature and humidity got so oppressive I 
thought I was going to have to run the air-conditioner.  But when the 
first few drops of rain started, both closed and shut off.

The one in the bedroom has a wall thermostat to turn it on and off 
and set it so it will shut off at night when it gets cooler (the lid 
stays open).

I sure regret that one of our members is having so many problems with 
his.  They're wonderful as far as we're concerned.
