That is a good point.  And the alternator is new.  So I could probably get 
along and see if the trailer can keep up.  If it can't, then I can upgrade.

Yes it does.  And i will be switching it to golf cart batteries.  My 
thoughts regarding a second battery under the hood is this:

1) I do a lot of Dry Camping where I am out in the middle of no where and 
leave only when I run out of water or gas in the tank to run the pickup to 
charge the batteries.  A extra battery gives me more power if and when I 
might need it.

2)  While dry camping once with some others, a person's truck failed to 
start.  He ran jumper cables from his 2nd battery to his first and jump 
started him self!  What a great advantage when you are out in the 
wilderness all alone and have a dead battery!

Thanks for the good tips on the alternator.  I think you are right about it.
