Ed, 2001 Safari's have a two year warranty.  I'm
assuming you have already checked this alternative? 

When we were having issues with our air conditioner
the factory service center realigned our door.  I
remember being able to stand outside in hot weather
and feel cool air escaping from the bottom of the door
although I never saw daylight.
