Re: [A/S] Generator location

I want my generators off the trailer, where the vibrations aren't
transmitted through the frame, loosening everything up, like the
rivets, etc and not carrying noise into the trailer. Sound travels
better through solid objects than it does air. And speaking of air,
portables need to have plenty of it around them for cooling. Not to
mention a way to take them out to fuel them every few hours.

The big heavy generators designed for internal mounting have fans
designed to pull air in and exhaust it through a louvered door, and
they have vibration mounts to isolate them from the RV. They're
available in gas for motorhomes and LP for trailers and fivers. The
LP versions use a LOT of LP.

Problem is, they would require reinforcement of floor where they're
mounted, not to mention take up precious internal space when you
mounted a big box for them, so the CO couldn't get in the trailer.

I finally ordered a pair of Honda EU2000s this week. I'm going to
make up my own parallel interface cable, with some 4mm shrouded
Mueller banana plugs, two red, two black, to keep polarity right.
The tip on these is plastic, like the shroud, so they wouldn't
electrocute anyone touching them, if one of the generator's plugs got
kicked out.

I may also get an outboard motor gas can and a coupla spare EU gas
caps, and make up the extended fuel setup a coupla guys on RV.net are
using.
