Richard:
I would believe 3800# empty when I saw it sitting on a weigh scale.
I have a 1959 - 24' Tradewind International that is 3800 # empty.
a) Older is lighter
b) Doesn't seem like Airstream would leave you 3,000 # of capacity to 
haul your "rock collection". The spread between GVW and dry weight 
seems kind of high.
c) Yours is longer than mine.
   I have a single axle yours will be a tandem, the second axle  adds 
weight.  
   My older unit is likely narrower and has more taper to the sides.  
I don't have air you likely do.

Better weigh it, I would be curious to know what it does weigh.
