[A/S] Hey, what about Sprint? (was Verizon net was: New Internet service)
Sprint is my wireless carrier, and I no longer even have a landline at home.
I have cable access for internet at home, but on the road I can either use
my phone to check my email or hook the phone to my laptop with a USB cable.
I get speeds of 50 kbps or better but the access is not always reliable.
I pay $60 a month for 750 anytime minutes, unlimited n/w minutes, unlimited
"Vision" (web access either over the phone or the laptop), unlimited roaming
(though that uses my minutes and I don't have internet access when I'm
roaming), no long distance charges, unlimited calls to other Sprint users,
and "Business Connection" allowing me to access my home computer from my
phone as long as the home computer is left on. I suspect that in the near
future new customers will not have unlimited web access using the phone with
the laptop.
I don't know how that compares to Verizon (which isn't available here) and I
should add that new Sprint customers would not be able to get that good a
deal; Sprint has a policy of customizing plans for long-term customers.
