I am hot for your design.  That is the first thing that came to my mind was to
get a small half or 3/4 wave thru-the-windshield induction unit and mount it on
the top of the batwing and run the cable (terminating in the induction pad) into
the trailer beside the TV lead but only as far as the crank handle.
My problem is that my Motorola has only one port on the bottom and I would just
as soon be using it for powering the phone
However, that is the whole problem with that phone.
one port for all things
antenna
batt charging
modem connection  to pc
and so on.
what they need is a cradle with a mess of wires running into it so that you
could just set the phone down on a male plug inside it and you would have all
other connections made  to whichever pin outs were applicable.
Then, you could be hardwired to the antenna, be charging the battery and be
connected to the modem in the PC or the phone. (phone modem bad - only 14Kbips I
think).  better to bypass it and feed signal straight to the pc's modem..
