[A/S] Truck Tires
I'm at a point where I need to put new tires on my 98 Dodge
Cummins 4x4. Original equipment tires are 245-75R16 however the
previous owner replaced them with 265-75R16 Cooper Discovery
HT's. I have not had any problems with these tires in the year I
have owned the truck and I would have no problem replacing them with
identical tires, however, since I have no previous experience with
trucks and their tires, I am wondering if there are better options.
The truck is an automatic with 4.1 differentials and is my daily
ride. The larger 265's help offset the lower mileage of the 4.1
axles and I would prefer to stay with them. As near as I can tell,
the larger tire should not have an adverse effect on towing a 31'
AS, which I hope to acquire this summer (when I find it!). My
mechanic has recommended "Dean" brand tires (which he sells)
but I've not heard of them and am a little reluctant to try them.
Any comments or pearls of wisdom on truck tires will be appreciated.
